Hits

The number of times a program or item of data has been accessed.

For example, when you download a page from the Web, the page itself and all graphic elements that it contains each count as one hit to that Web site. So, if a page is requested once and on that page are displayed 6 images that will count as 7 hits.

The number of page requests gives a more accurate indication of a websites traffic.
